What is the Water Festival?

A Water Festival is an interactive educational learning experience consisting of hands on activities for students to learn the role of surface and groundwater in the water cycle; the importance of water to all life; the interdependence of plants, trees, wildlife, soil and water; the effect of human actions on water and all nature; and that all individuals need to act environmentally responsible.

"Every Drop Counts" is the events theme.

Activities will include:

  • Hands-on learning experiences
  • Food
  • Live entertainment
  • T-Shirt Contest
         

When will the Water Festival be held?

The Water Festival is tentatively set for each year, with the location to be announced.

Who is sponsoring the Water Festival?

The Lee County Soil & Water Conservation District, partners and volunteers throughout Lee County are planning a Lee County Water Festival, for the 4th grade students of Lee County.

Why have a Water Festival?

The mission of the Lee County Water Festival will be to educate students and their families about all aspects of surface water and groundwater and other related natural resources (such as wetlands, forestry, wildlife and much more) and to instill in them a general environmental awareness and stewardship ethic.

How can I help?

You can help with your donation of time and/or dollars. It costs approximately $18 per student. Your donation can be made in honor of or in memory of a special loved one. To donate your time please contact Anne Miller. Your check made out to The Alabama Association of Conservation Districts can be sent to the address below.
